Titina (Norway / Belgium, 2022, ANI, 91'), the feature film by Kajsa Næss, marks the opening session of ANIMar 19.

It tells the story of the Italian Umberto Nobile (1885-1978, an aviator and aeronautical engineer known for his explorations, including the one he made to the Arctic at the invitation of the famous Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen (1872-1928).

Through the point of view of Titina, the terrier dog who accompanied them, the viewer witnesses the famous journey to the North Pole in May 1926 aboard the Norge, the airship built by Nobile on purpose for this expedition at Amundsen's request.

Inspired by the true friendship (and rivalry) between the two adventurers, this co-production between Norway and Belgium mixes animation and archive footage and was directed by Kajsa Næss, who wrote the script in partnership with Per Schreiner.

Escaping the usual tendency to focus on Animated Cinema, this edition proposes, from March 2nd, a programme centred on the history of Portuguese Cinema, which includes: a main exhibition, film cycles, talks, as well as guided tours and themed workshops, guided by the Curtas Metragens CRL Educational Service. Opening on March 3rd, with the participation of Tiago Bartolomeu Costa, the exhibition, organised by Galeria Solar and FILMar, navigates through documentary, ethnofictional and even advertising productions, all closely linked to the sea. The films include a tour of the country, its beaches, the stories of fishing communities, from factories to labour, from tourism to fear, not to reinforce the narrative of a country of sailors and fishermen, but to question the multiple and contrasting identities that have resisted the limited and humble definition that for so many years was imposed as true.
