ANIMAR 21: discover the closing programme activities

The Solar – Galeria de Arte Cinemática is preparing to close the 21st edition of ANIMAR with a series of activities aimed at children, families, and school audiences, extending the universe of the collective exhibition dedicated to the works of Alice Eça Guimarães, Alexandra Ramires, Laura Gonçalves, Marta Reis Andrade, and Alexandre Sousa.
Throughout June, the programme brings together workshops, film screenings, staged storytelling sessions, and participatory activities that highlight the work developed by Curtas – Educational Service in promoting film literacy and artistic experimentation among diverse audiences.
On Saturday, June 6th at 10:30 AM, Solar will host the workshop Desenhar para ANIMAR, led by Raquel Ribeiro from the Centro de Ciência Viva de Vila do Conde. Through drawing, collage, and painting, participants will be encouraged to create nature-inspired elements while exploring their imagination. Later that day, at 4:00 PM, the Vila do Conde Municipal Theatre will host the special session Animar in Celebration, featuring the presentation of short films created by students from Escola Secundária José Régio and Escola Básica Dr. Carlos Pinto Ferreira during the long-term workshops, alongside a video recap of this year’s edition.
On Saturday, June 13th at 10:30 AM, Curtas – Educational Service and the Centro de Ciência Viva de Vila do Conde will join forces for the family workshop ANIMAR a Natureza, held at the Centro de Ciência Viva de Vila do Conde . Using the illustrations and objects created during the previous workshop, participants will produce short animated films using stop-motion techniques.
Later that afternoon, at 3:30 PM, the Solar gallery will host the fourth session of Conto Contigo, the staged storytelling programme led by Xana Miranda. The session will include a reading of Trop de Bananes by Rémi Courgeon, followed by a surprise creative activity and a small snack for participants.
The closing programme culminates with a special open-air screening in Solar’s courtyard, presenting all the short films featured in the ANIMAR 21 exhibition, with the presence of some of the invited filmmakers.
Organised by Solar – Cinematic Art Gallery and developed by the Curtas – Educational Service, ANIMAR continues to establish itself as a key project connecting cinema, education, and community participation.
